Mary and Martha were two sisters who were very dear to this man. Their brother Lazarus was very ill and both Mary and Martha were confident that this man would be able to save their brother. They knew very well that this man loved Lazarus very much. Their confidence failed them as time went by and their brother died. This man, whom they have placed their trust in, never cured Lazarus. He was now dead.
Mary and Martha were in grief. They were both questioning why this man never came earlier so that their brother would be saved. "If only you had been here, my brother would not have died." That was a lot of confidence they had in this man.
This man was Jesus and his responded to Mary and Martha's pain.
Now why does God seem so distant if he does care!??
The story didn't end here. Mary and Martha did not know there was a hidden plan behind all that happened. They never did have the Bible to read about what was going to happen then :)
The great thing about this what Jesus said was that it was not merely just a claim. Claiming is one thing but Jesus proved what he said.
Lazarus was raised from the dead. With what seemed like the most hopeless thing in the world - death, God proved it otherwise.
The cross...
is what Easter is all about and the story of Lazarus reflects of this story. Jesus died for the many wrongs that you and I have done. He was on the cross because of you and I. His love for us was what compelled Him to do so.
All these pain and hopelessness when Jesus died happened on a Friday and what no one knew was that there was a hidden purpose. Everyone thought this was the end.
Jesus ressurected on a Sunday and gave hope to the many who thought the story ended when Jesus died. It was, in fact, only the end of the begining.
Now, here's a question for you.
Are you willing to live Friday,
when Sunday is coming?
We do suffer, its true but Jesus weeps for the suffering that you and I go through. God has a hidden plan for that suffering.
And one thing's for sure. For us, Sunday is coming. How do we know?
Because Jesus' Sunday came. :)
Signin off: Have a blessed easter!!
